AW24 Inspiration: nature, cosiness and meaningful connections

The AW24 collection is a harmonious fusion of the Scandinavian concept of hygge, showcasing  our signature simplicity and honesty in hand crafted design. The campaign unfolds as a celebration of the architectural purity inherent in Scandinavian design, echoing the minimalistic structures of our bags and the contentment of time spent outdoors in spring.

“Hyggelig” interior is not just about how things look, but how things feel and in turn how they make us feel. Freely running your fingers across a wooden table tracing every groove; curling them up round a ceramic mug or brushing them through the coarse mane of a horse. All these feelings are distinctly different, along with the feeling it provokes within us.

Hygge grounds us to the earth and surrounds us with nature. This collection embraces all elements of nature in its raw unpolished form. Feeling free, feeling connected.

We interviewed our Designer, Dilleta Carboni to explore the AW24 collection further.

1. What can you tell us about the inspiration behind your designs for this collection?
The overall inspiration for the collection has come from Hygge. Hygge is a word in Danish and Norwegian that describes a cozy, contented mood, evoked by comfort. After our usual trip to Lineapelle and Premier Vision for the trends of the season we looked at how we could incorporate these into our overarching theme. I spent a lot of time in nature during the design process looking at textures, patterns and colours. I also read “The Little Book of Hygge: The Danish Way to Live Well”.

2. What do you hope that people will take away from the AW24 collection?
I hope they will understand the concept of Hygge. What Hygge means for Strathberry, as well as how they can apply to their life. Hopefully while they are reconnecting with friends and nature they will have a Strathberry bag as their companion.

3. What does Hygge mean to you, and how do you adopt these practices in your daily life?
Hygge for me is feeling happy thanks to a reconnection with life and easy living: spending time with my friends, reconnecting with nature, and enjoying reading a book when it is raining outside. If I have a bad day, I always ask my flatmate to have a cheese night: drink some wine, eat some cheese, listen to music and enjoy each other's company. Also during the weekends I start the day taking a walk into nature to get connected with it and feeling better.

4. What is your favourite bag in this collection and why?
The Bay bag mini! I love its equestrian look with the studs on the sides and the new shiny leather that we introduced. It is really versatile as it can be dressed up for an evening as well as normal shopping.

5. Have you introduced any new materials for this season?
There are a few new materials that we worked with in the collection as we wanted to showcase the concept of cosiness and warmth of Hygge. We have introduced  shearling, a tartan jacquard, velvet, some exotic textures as well as the new leather for the bay. One way to create hygge in a space is thoughtful lighting, in the Christmas collection we have played with a leather that represents the bright lights and reflections during the Christmas period."

6. If you were to describe this collection in three words, what would they be?
Meaningful connections (it’s two words sorry haha), nature and cosiness.
